Chapter 30

“What are you talking about? You leave the mansion and go through the meadow to the north, takes a day at most.” She was looking at him now, eyes watering.

“What meadow? We walked through a forest.” He watched as her face hinted at recognition.

“That bastard!” She screeched, he’d never heard her swear, and in any other situation he’d of laughed. “Octave must have used a spell to block it, that treacherous bastard.” Her canines turned to fangs as her nails dug into her palms. “I’ll kill him I swear I’ll-“ Her voice had taken on a growling quality.

“It doesn’t matter, let’s just go!” Alec said as he went to the door and looked down the hall hoping her yelling hadn’t attracted attention but it was empty.

“Alec I can’t now, it’s too late!” She was on the verge of tears.

“Who cares about your fiancée, you don’t want to be here right? I can’t go back without you, I can’t look at Angelene when she’s so upset, I can’t go back to my family knowing I caused her to lose her child.” He watched as Rose started to cry.

“I miss them you know? They always acted like I was their daughter, never told me I had to work or anything, I’ve lived with them so long I- I want to go home.” She wept as she covered her face.

“You won’t be able to see them if you have to marry this guy right? Angelene told me that prophecy thing, so let’s go, hurry before-“ Just then he heard voices drift down from the dim hall. Rose wiped her face and stood, her hands shaking. “It’s Octave, he’s brought my fiancée, you have to hide.” She tried to push Alec to the bathroom to conceal him, but within moments the door was opened and two vampires stood looking on as Rose and Alec stood frozen in place.
