He looked on in horror as Rose kneeled on the ground, her hand to her forehead. When she looked up a small trickle of blood went between her eyes as she then stood. “Damn, that hurt more than I expected.” She groaned as she got up. Alec fired two more bullets, but this time the vampire dodged them. “Wow, didn’t think you hated me that much.” She said sadly as she pulled her hand away from her face, revealing nothing more than a small scratch on her forehead, no bullet present.
“H-how-?” Alec stammered.
“That gun there, at the ‘pawn’ level can only kill those things.” She said gesturing to the blobs. “Can’t even kill humans or even a fly otherwise.” She wobbled a little as she walked forward. “Oh wow though, that thing packs a punch.” She chuckled. Stella and Viren had already started checking to make sure every blob was definitely dead, slashing a couple up into small bits.
“Wh-What where those things?” He stammered, holstering his gun with a shaking hand, obviously it’d be no help.
“Anima, eater of souls.” She said as she licked some of her blood from her fingers, but then making a face as the disgusting taste. “You get killed by one, and they devour your soul, you completely cease to exist. No heaven, no hell. Just gone.” She looked to Alec again now. “Why’d you save me?” She asked quietly, dejectedly.
He looked at her for a moment. ‘Do I say I wanted to kill her myself? No, that wasn’t why I- I just did it, I couldn’t help it.’ “I-“ Just as he was about to speak a loud sound came from the mansions exit to the garden. His hand went to his gun, until he saw light blue hair. He sighed in relief as Aqua ran to them, green splattered her blue dress.
“Is every one okay?” She yelled as she sprinted across the garden. She came up to Rose, breathing heavily to catch her breath.
“Yeah yeah, don’t worry about us.” Rose said chuckling.
“What happened to you?” The other girl said, indicating the green goo and wound on her forehead.
“Long story, short version Alec saved me from one of the anima.” Rose said looking away from the probing blue-green eyes.
“You’re telling me all of that ‘long story’ later.” Aqua replied.
