Hours later he found himself in the last hallway of the top floor, he’d already tried two floors with no luck other than finding more mute humans. He walked down the hall, taking several turns and checking dozens of rooms. Finally he found himself at a dead end, all that lay at the end was a door, not much different than any of the others. It stood open slightly, light drifting out from the other side. He walked forward wearily, if he stumbled on any other vampire it could mean trouble, he still wasn’t sure why the others had left him alive.
He put his hand to the wood and was about to open it but something stopped him. He pulled back, and then knocked quietly. After a moment a soft but familiar voice seeped into his ears. “Come in.”
He pushed open the door forcefully before leaping into the room. “Rose!” He yelled, watching as the she-vampire jumped pale blue eyes wide. When recognition set in she ran to him and wrapped her arms around his abdomen. He was shocked for a moment but smiled. She pulled away, smiling herself. He was surprised at her attire. She wore a long elegant red dress complete with ruffles and laces colored like blood. Her face was adorned with make-up, red around her eyes and on her lips made her seem paler than usual, her hair tied up in circling braids. She saw him looking then pouted.
“Yeah, formal wear for a princess.” She said huffing as she sat down on an elegant bed, the covers black. “What are you doing here? Are the masters here to visit?” She was talking quickly, excited to see someone other than servants. Alec shook his head.
“I’m here to take you back, let’s go.” He grabbed her wrist and was about to pull her when he saw her confused face. “They miss you Rose, Angelene was crying, you have to come back.” He didn’t know why she seemed so displeased, she hadn’t wanted to return, had she changed her mind?
“Alec, did you come here alone?” He eyes were wide her face full of shock. He nodded.
“Stella and Viren walked me here but since I entered the gate-“ He couldn’t finish as Rose bolted up.
“How are you alive? Are you alright? Did they hurt you? Did you kill anyone?” Her voice was too quick to follow; he put his hand over her mouth until she calmed down.
“I didn’t kill anyone, and I’m fine… I don’t know why but after they dog piled on me they just got up and left me alone, I didn’t do anything, I had though you-“ He trailed off. Rose shook her head as Alec’s hand went to his side.
“I didn’t know you were here.” She looked down, trying to think. “Alec…” She sighed. “I can’t go back now they’ve already found a fiancée for me, if you’d come sooner maybe but-“ She sat dejected on the bed, head in hands.
“I left the day after you did! How could we have gotten here quicker? We walked every day all day, I mean if we had a car or something, but there was no way we’d have gotten here in a day!” He was furious, he couldn’t just leave now. Not without her.
