Rose watched as the other two left. She was numb, shock and joy and just pure emotion with no name flooded her. She launched herself on Alec who was facing away, wrapping her arms around his waist. She buried his face into his back and just laughed. She laughed as tears leaked down her face, smudging her makeup, but she couldn’t care less. “Let’s leave right now.” She said happily as she pulled away, running to the other side of the room and grabbing a black back pack from the floor and throwing it onto her bed. Alec watched as she dug through, pulled out a pair of shorts and a tank top. He realized now she’d never even unpacked the things she’d taken from the mansion, though whether because she’d planned to leave or because she didn’t need to- he didn’t know.
And just as she was about to run into the bathroom to change a loud scream pierced their ears. Both stopped, but only for a millisecond, before both were racing down the labyrinth of halls and stairs until they finally reached the large wooden doors. Rose shoved them open and burst out onto the bright afternoon street.
Some how Alec had just known that nothing could be this perfect, nothing could go just right. And as he looked outside he knew he’d been right. He saw the bodies, mostly human, scattered bloodied, torn, and ravaged in the street. He saw another human being ripped into, the claws tearing at flesh and ripping out intestines. The creature looked up, large mouths watering as it gored the limp body. Green eyes trained on the Anima he pulled out his pistol and shot a round straight through the beast’s skull, drawing the attention of several more blobs.
Rose stood dumbfounded as several grey masses growled and saliva flew from their maws. Alec shot two more through the skull as they advanced; others backed up and went back to slaying humans whom were still crawling away, missing legs and arms. Alec tried his best to fend them off, but there were dozens scattered in just this part of the city, no doubt more lurked in the other areas out of sight. Rose finally got to her senses and started after a few of the straggling anima, slashing them with her nails-now claws-spraying green blood on her crimson dress. Only when the anima fled from their sight did Alec and Rose survey the damage, several human corpses, some maimed and soon to be dead lay in the streets. The scent of blood was thick, even to Alec. He watched as a handful of vampires lurked out of the surrounding buildings, grabbing dying humans and sucking them dry.
He turned away when he saw Rose clutch one of the servants he’d seen in the castle. He heard the pale human whisper something-almost thankfully-and then heard the sucking of the fallen man’s blood. Alec just couldn’t believe this destruction, and as he looked he noticed someone walking among the corpses, not stopping as humans-barely clinging to life-clutched at his legs. When one refused to release the blonde man he savagely kicked out, breaking the humans arm, sending him screaming in new agony, the words a mix of human speech and animal sounds.
“Rosemary, how I thirst for your blood you wretched cur.” The voice was smooth and quiet, the man blonde, eyes clouded with red, fangs and nails sharp and at the ready. He stood with head high, a smirk of superiority. Behind him stood a small army of anima, clawing at the dirt and bloodied bodies. Rose looked up, licking away the now dead human’s blood from her lips. She stood, holding the man’s body in her arms even though he should have been too heavy-vampires apparently had much more strength then their human counterparts.
“Oleander.” She said quietly, as if cursing under her breath. She looked behind him, and only then did the realization hit, sending her eyes wide. “You-” She spat, the words burning her lips. “You’re the general!” She screeched as an anima ran at her at a wave of the male vampire’s hand. Rose dodged easily, and she ran to the still open doors of the castle, laying the man’s corpse against the inside wall. She closed his eyes lids before touching his forehead. “Good bye my friend, may heaven and the reapers greet you well.” She whispered before standing, her eyes clouded red. She walked out and –without Alec even seeing her move-ran towards the grey mass and sliced it clean in two. The halves fell away, and the blood covered her, pulling her hair down with its weight, the sprig of rosemary falling into a pool of human and anima blood.
